Luz Casal - Historia De Un Amor

Luz Casal, born November 11, 1958 at Boimorto, is a Spanish pop singer. She grew up in neighbouring Asturias, took singing, piano and ballet classes, and moved to Madrid to pursue a career as a musician.
She became famous in the early 1980s, and remained an important figure in Spanish pop music all through said decade and beyond, with her sound gradually maturing towards soft adult pop. She recorded a cover version of Étienne Daho's French language song "Duel au Soleil" in Spanish called "Un nuevo día brillará", which became a hit song. Since the beginning of her career, she has sold over five million albums.
In 1992, she enjoyed great success with her appearance in the soundtrack of Pedro Almodóvar's acclaimed film High Heels singing Agustín Lara's theme "Piensa en mí".
In January 2007, Luz Casal was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent an operation at the Ruber Clinic in Madrid, seven months later, she revealed to the Spanish media that she had overcome her disease.
More recently in May 2010, she announced that she had been diagnosed with cancer in her other breast and had to cancel her current tour to be operated on.
Her first name, Luz, means “light” in Spanish.
Massive success
In 1989 she released with her new company Hispavox Luz produced for Paco Trinidad and Chucho Merchán, and habitual musician of Eurythmics. The album, which sold over 300,000 copies and was her definitive leap to stardom, includes two of the most important songs of the history of Spain,[citation needed] "Te Dejé Marchar" (I Let You Go) and "No Me Importa Nada" (Nothing Matters For Me). That year she took part in a festival held in Chile in favour of human rights, among artists and groups such as Sting and U2.
In 1991 Luz, released A Contraluz (Behind The Light), which sold over 400,000 copies, obtaining four platinum albums. In this album is the bolero "Piensa en mí" (Think Of Me), by Agustín Lara, which was chosen by Pedro Almodóvar for his film Tacones Lejanos (High Heels). This massive hit made her a European superstar, especially admired in France. Following that, Luz took a four-year break away from recording studies, a time when she started thinking about her career because of her success, but she kept on performing in Spain, Latin America, France and other European countries.
In early 1995, Luz travelled to London, with producer Paco Trinidad, to work with Eurythmics engineer Darren Allison and members of Paul McCartney's band, namely Paul"Wix" Wickens, and Robbie Mackintosh, on tracks for her next album, entitled Como La Flor Prometida (Like The Promised Flower). The album was released later in 1995, four years after her previous album. It sold over 800,000 copies, being the most successful album of her career.
In 1996 she released a compilation album, Pequeños Y Grandes Exitos (Hits, Great And Small). Two years later she released another compilation album, only in France, Luz Casal, that sold more than 400,000 copies and included two songs in French, "Tu Ne L'Emporteras Pas" and "Entre Mes Souvenirs". versions of "No Me Importa Nada" and "Entre Mis Recuerdos," respectively, performed in the Olympia Theatre of Paris and became the first Spanish pop singer playing during five years, between 24 and 28 October, La Cigalle Theatre.
In 1999, after four years without having released anything secondary to the death of her father, she recorded "Un Mar De Confianza" (A Sea Of Trust) which sold over 600,000 copies. That year, the song "Mi Confianza" (My Trust) was awarded the Ondas Award in the category for Best Song. She then started a European tour performing in France, Italy, Switzerland and Belgium. She collaborated on an album by Rosendo called Siempre Hay Una Historia (There's Always A History), recorded in the Carabanchel Prison. In 2001, she received the Goya Award in the category of Best Original Song from the soundtrack of the animated film El Bosque Animado (The Living Forest).
In November 2002, Luz released the album Con Otra Mirada (With Another Look), with 150,000 copies sold and in October 2004 she released the album Sencilla Alegría (Single Happiness), recorded in Du Manoir Studio with production by Javier Limón. The album, which sold over 150,000 copies and in which Luz offers a voice, includes influences from Flamenco and jazz and also features Chris Barron (from The Spin Doctors), Jerry Gonzalez, Olivier Durán, Pablo Guerrero, Rui Veloso, Niño Josele, Quique González and Pablo Novoa. This album includes "Negra Sombra" (Black Shadow), a poem by Rosalía de Castro, set to music by Juan Montes Capón, which was on the soundtrack to Mar Adentro, by Alejandro Amenábar.
Having overcome breast cancer, on October 12 2007 Luz released a new single "Se Feliz" (Be Happy) from her new album, Vida Tóxica (Toxic Life), inspired by her experience with chemotherapy. The album was recorded and mixed in London, once again, with Darren Allison and the same team of musicians who had performed on Como La Flor Prometida, with the addition of bass guitarist Pino Palladino. Vida Tóxica appeared in November 2007.
On 29 September 2009, she published a new album called La Pasión (The Passion), an album in which the singer paid homage to the most important bolero singers from the 1940s to the 1960s. In that album, she made versions of songs such as "Alma Mía" (My Soul), "Cenizas" (Ashes), and "Historia De Un Amor" (The History Of A Love). This album went gold in Spain and platinum in France.
Apart from the release of the new album, Luz Casal was awarded with the Medal Of Arts And Culture of France which coincided with the release of her new album.
The lyrics:

"Weird" Al Yankovic - Amish Paradise

Amish Paradise is a 1996 single by parodist "Weird Al" Yankovic. It is a parody of the hip hop song "Gangsta's Paradise" by Coolio featuring L.V. (which itself is a reworking of the Stevie Wonder song "Pastime Paradise"). Featured on the album Bad Hair Day, it turns the original "Gangsta's Paradise," in which the narrator laments his dangerous way of life, on its head by presenting an Amish man praising his relatively plain and uncomplicated existence.
Controversy
Although Yankovic traditionally secures permission from the artists he parodies (even though this may not be legally required, as parodies are covered under fair use guidelines), and was told by his record label that Coolio had given permission, Coolio later claimed that he had not given such permission (and in fact publicly expressed disgust saying that Yankovic's parody "desecrated the song"). This created a minor controversy, as speculation surfaced that Coolio had actually given permission but later claimed he had not in the fear that allowing the parody would not be seen as "cool", or that Yankovic's record label had lied to Yankovic in the hopes that the song would become popular.
Yankovic later stated on VH1's Behind the Music that he had written a sincere letter of apology to Coolio which was never returned, and that Coolio never complained when he received his royalty check from proceeds of the song.
A series of photos taken at the XM Satellite Radio booth at the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show suggests that Yankovic and Coolio may have made amends.
On June 27, 2013 during an AMA on Reddit, Yankovic was asked "Is Coolio still upset about Amish Paradise?", to which Yankovic replied "Coolio's cool with me now. We ran into each other a few years ago and it's all water under the proverbial bridge."
The director of the music video for “Amish Paradise” was “Weird Al” himself. “Weird Al” has directed many of his music videos since 1986.
The music video for "Amish Paradise" is very similar to the "Gangsta's Paradise" music video, although several concepts have been parodied. These include:
When Yankovic states that Amish shun electricity, several Amish stomp on electronic devices, such as CDs, floppy disks, laptops and a Slim Whitman LP album.
When Yankovic says he is up at 4:30 in the morning milking cows, he is shown milking a cow directly into a bowl of cereal instead of a milk pail. A box of corn flakes can be seen next to him. The Kellogg's brand name is covered.
In the next scene, when Jebediah is "feeding the chickens" he is giving them pizza.
The line "Tonight we're gonna party like it's 1699," is a not-so subtle jab at Prince and his song "1999". Prince is one of the very few artists in the music industry that has consistently refused to let Weird Al record parodies of his songs.
When Al is churning butter, a woman walks by, and he is seen churning faster in an arguably suggestive manner.
When the man is sawing and checking his sundial watch (on a cloudy day), the man behind him is playing golf (the follow-through of which resembles the use of a scythe).
When Al says "We sell quilts at discount price," a wooden booth is shown selling quilts, with a sign that says 'OUR PRICES ART INSANE!!!' in Old English parody of 'Crazy Eddie' advertisements.
At one point Al is seen reading a fake Lancaster, Pennsylvania, newspaper, with the headline "Much Butter Was Churned". This is a homage to the film Witness, which takes place in Lancaster County, home to perhaps the most well-known Amish communities.
In one part, two boys are looking at a supposed "Amish Babes" porn magazine (the cover slogan says "Plow My Field!"), but in the centerfold all the woman is showing is her leg up to her knee, insinuating that this is considered to be scandalous among the Amish.
When the young Amish children are on Yankovic's knee, they each have a beard, even though they appear to be about 6 years old.
Al's face is seen, with him sweating more every time a close up is taken to mock how L.V. is sweating profusely in Coolio's video.
When Yankovic states he's "scoring points for the afterlife," he takes off his hat to reveal a hairstyle very similar to that seen on the cover of his album Bad Hair Day. These are both parodies of Coolio's trademark hairstyle.
On the back of the carriage just before the sign reading, "Welcome to Lancaster," there's a "bumper" sticker stating, "How am I driving?" Other signs are seen saying among other things "BE GOOD", "NO FUN", "SIN-FREE ZONE", and "Mind Your Manners".
The man in white shirt and glasses attempting to use the vintage telephone (and in turn being coated with dust) is fashioned after a photograph of 1960s comedian Allan Sherman.
The lyrics "No phone, no lights, no motorcar - not a single luxury... like Robinson Crusoe, it's primitive as can be" are originally from the closing theme song to Gilligan's Island.
Near the very end, Yankovic is shown walking away from a barn while everything around him moves backwards in a rewinding fashion; for this effect, the scene was recorded normally while Weird Al lip syncs the words backwards, so when the scene is shown backwards, his lips sync with the song itself. The inspiration for this scene was the video for the rap group Pharcyde's Drop, which was filmed in the same manner, and the backwards scene performed in the movie, "Top Secret!"
The video features Florence Henderson in the role originally portrayed by Michelle Pfeiffer. Reportedly, Henderson jumped at the chance to be featured in the parody, after seeing the Coolio video.
Al's parents Nick and Mary Yankovic are featured in the music video.
The video shows many aspects of regular Amish life, such as raising a barn (the scene directly parodies Witness). However, when the barn is raised, the frame falls towards Yankovic, who is standing where a gap in the frame is. He has acknowledged that this gag is a Buster Keaton homage. Keaton performed this stunt in Steamboat Bill Jr.
The lyrics:
As I walk through the valley where I harvest my grain
I take a look at my wife and realize she's very plain
But that's just perfect for an Amish like me
You know, I shun fancy things like electricity
At 4:30 in the morning I'm milkin' cows
Jebediah feeds the chickens and Jacob plows... fool
And I've been milkin' and plowin' so long that
Even Ezekiel thinks that my mind is gone
I'm a man of the land, I'm into discipline
Got a Bible in my hand and a beard on my chin
But if I finish all of my chores and you finish thine
Then tonight we're gonna party like it's 1699

We been spending most our lives
Living in an Amish paradise
I've churned butter once or twice
Living in an Amish paradise
It's hard work and sacrifice
Living in an Amish paradise
We sell quilts at discount price
Living in an Amish paradise

A local boy kicked me in the butt last week
I just smiled at him and turned the other cheek
I really don't care, in fact I wish him well
'Cause I'll be laughing my head off when he's burning in hell
But I ain't never punched a tourist even if he deserved it
An Amish with a 'tude? You know that's unheard of
I never wear buttons but I got a cool hat
And my homies agree, I really look good in black...fool
If you come to visit, you'll be bored to tears
We haven't even paid the phone bill in 300 years
But we ain't really quaint, so please don't point and stare
We're just technologically impaired

There's no phone, no lights, no motorcar
Not a single luxury
Like Robinson Crusoe
It's as primitive as can be

We been spending most our lives
Living in an Amish paradise
We're just plain and simple guys
Living in an Amish paradise
There's no time for sin and vice
Living in an Amish paradise
We don't fight, we all play nice
Living in an Amish paradise

Hitchin' up the buggy, churnin' lots of butter
Raised a barn on Monday, soon I'll raise another
Think you're really righteous? Think you're pure in heart?
Well, I know I'm a million times as humble as thou art
I'm the pious guy the little Amlettes wanna be like
On my knees day and night scorin' points for the afterlife
So don't be vain and don't be whiny
Or else, my brother, I might have to get medieval on your heinie

We been spending most our lives
Living in an Amish paradise
We're all crazy Mennonites
Living in an Amish paradise
There's no cops or traffic lights
Living in an Amish paradise
But you'd probably think it bites
Living in an Amish paradise

Dire Straits feat.Sting, Eric Clapton, Elton John & Phil Collins- Money For Nothing (Live)

Dire Straits perform Money For Nothing live with Sting, Eric Clapton, Elton John, & Phil Collins at the Prince's Trust Concert on Wembley Arena in 1986.
“Money for Nothing" is a single by British rock band Dire Straits, taken from their 1985 album Brothers in Arms. It was one of Dire Straits' most successful singles, peaking at number one for three weeks in the United States, and it also reached number one for three weeks on the U.S. Mainstream Rock chart. In the band's native UK, the song peaked at number four.
The recording was notable for its controversial lyrics, groundbreaking music video and cameo appearance by Sting singing the song's falsetto introduction and backing chorus, "I want my MTV."
The video was also the first to be aired on MTV Europe when the network started on 1 August 1987.
"Money for Nothing" won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 1986 at the 28th Grammy Awards.
Mark Knopfler described the writing of the song in a 1984 interview with critic Bill Flanagan:
The lead character in "Money for Nothing" is a guy who works in the hardware department in a television/custom kitchen/refrigerator/microwave appliance store. He's singing the song. I wrote the song when I was actually in the store. I borrowed a bit of paper and started to write the song down in the store. I wanted to use a lot of the language that the real guy actually used when I heard him, because it was more real....
Notable performances
When Dire Straits performed "Money for Nothing" at the 1985 Live Aid Concert at Wembley Stadium, the performance featured a guest appearance by Sting.
Knopfler performed "Money for Nothing" using his Pensa-Suhr signature MK-1 model guitar with a pair of Soldano SLO-100 tube/valve amplifier heads and Marshall speaker cabinets during the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute and Prince's Trust concerts in 1988, as well as the Nordoff-Robbins charity show at Knebworth in 1990 and the On Every Street world tours in 1991/1992. These versions featured extended guitar solos by Knopfler, backed by Eric Clapton and Phil Palmer.
"Money for Nothing" and "Brothers in Arms" were performed at the 1997 Music for Montserrat concert, with Clapton on rhythm guitar, Sting performing background vocals and Phil Collins on drums.
The lyrics:
Now look at them yo-yo's that's the way you do it
You play the guitar on the MTV
That ain't workin' that's the way you do it
Money for nothin' and chicks for free
Now that ain't workin' that's the way you do it
Lemme tell ya them guys ain't dumb
Maybe get a blister on your little finger
Maybe get a blister on your thumb

We gotta install microwave ovens
Custom kitchen deliveries
We gotta move these refrigerators
We gotta move these colour TV's

See the little faggot with the earring and the makeup
Yeah buddy that's his own hair
That little faggot got his own jet airplane
That little faggot he's a millionaire

We gotta install microwave ovens
Custom kitchens deliveries
We gotta move these refrigerators
We gotta move these colour TV's

I shoulda learned to play the guitar
I shoulda learned to play them drums
Look at that mama, she got it stickin' in the camera
Man we could have some fun
And he's up there, what's that? Hawaiian noises?
Bangin' on the bongoes like a chimpanzee
That ain't workin' that's the way you do it
Get your money for nothin' get your chicks for free

We gotta install microwave ovens
Custom kitchen deliveries
We gotta move these refrigerators
We gotta move these colour TV's, Lord

Now that ain't workin' that's the way you do it
You play the guitar on the MTV
That ain't workin' that's the way you do it
Money for nothin' and your chicks for free
Money for nothin' and chicks for free

Luciano Pavarotti & Tracy Chapman - Baby Can I Hold You (live)

Baby Can I Hold You is the third single released by the American contemporary folk artist Tracy Chapman, released in late 1988.
The song reached the top fifty in the United States, unlike its predecessor, "Talkin' 'bout a Revolution", but it failed to become Chapman's second top forty hit, peaking at #48. It did, however, give her a second chart entry on the US Adult Contemporary charts, peaking at #19 in early 1989. (Her first adult contemporary hit was "Fast Car", which reached #7 on the AC charts.)
Given the commercial decline Chapman suffered following the release of her second album Crossroads, "Baby Can I Hold You" also became her last top fifty hit until 1996's "Give Me One Reason". Neil Diamond recorded the song for his 1989 album, The Best Years of Our Lives and became the first of many artists to cover the song.
Chapman subsequently re-recorded the song as a duet with Luciano Pavarotti for the CD Pavarotti and Friends for Cambodia and Tibet. And it was re-released as a single in promotion of the hits package Collection which reached #3 in the UK in 2001.
The lyrics:
[Tracy:]
Sorry
Is all that you can't say
Years gone by and still
Words don't come easily
Like sorry like sorry

[Luciano:]
Perdonami
È una parola che
Tu non dici mai
E non ti é facile dire le
Perdonami, perdonami

[Tracy:]
But you can say baby
Baby can I hold you tonight
Maybe if I told you the right words
At the right time you'd be mine

[Luciano:]
Io t’amo
È una parola che
Tu non dici mai
[Tracy:]
Words don't come easily
Like I love you I love you

[Luciano:]
Ci sono parole
Che tu non sai dire, o non vuoi
Quando a volte non c’è bisogno di più
Di uno scusami, se mi vuoi

[Tracy:] Baby can I hold you tonight
[Luciano:] Che tu non sai dire, o non vuoi
[Tracy:] Maybe if I told you the right words
At the right time you'd be mine
[Luciano:] Se mi vuoi
[Tracy:] You'd be mine
[Luciano:] Se mi vuoi
[Tracy:] You'd be mine
[Luciano:] Se mi vuoi

Peter Gabriel - In Your Eyes (live)

In Your Eyes is a song by British musician Peter Gabriel from his 1986 album So with Youssou N'Dour singing some choruses translated into his native Wolof. The song was the main-theme of the 1989 teen-film Say Anything... starring John Cusack.
The single was only released in North America and achieved strong radio airplay and MTV rotation. It reached #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks and #26 on the Billboard Hot 100 in November 1986.
It was not released as a single in the UK. However, Gabriel did release two extended versions of the song as a 12" vinyl single in the US. The first (the Single Mix) ran 6:15. The second (the Special Mix) ran 7:14.
The song was the finale of the Secret World Tour and is the final track on the 1994 Secret World Live album, where it is over 11 minutes long and includes the extra lyrics from the Special Mix, in addition to solos by the other singers and players. It was included on the US version of his 2003 compilation Hit, but not on the European or Japanese versions.
In 2005, the song brought Gabriel his first Gold single, certified in the U.S. by the RIAA.
Licensed uses
In 1988 (at the end of the 1987 NFL season), NBC Sports used "In Your Eyes" in for the prologue (narrated by Dick Enberg) of the AFC Championship Game between the Denver Broncos and Cleveland Browns.
The theatrical trailer for the 1993 film Benny & Joon features In Your Eyes.
In the 2005 Cold Case episode entitled "Family", the song appears towards the end as a 1988 murder case is resolved.
The song is featured in the 2008 film The Rocker when A.D.D. plays their first gig at a high school prom.
Sampled portions of the song can be heard in the 2010 Girl Talk album All Day.
The song was also featured at the end of the series premiere to Felicity in 1998 on the The WB.
The lyrics:
Love
I get so lost sometimes
Days pass
And this emptiness fills my heart

When I want to run away
I drive off in my car
But whichever way I go
I come back to the place you are

All my instincts
They return
The grand façade
So soon will burn

Without a noise
Without my pride
I reach out from the inside

In your eyes
The light, the heat
In your eyes
I am complete
In your eyes
I see the doorway
To a thousand churches
In your eyes
The resolution
In your eyes
Of all the fruitless searches

Oh, I see the light and the heat
In your eyes
Oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light
The heat I see in your eyes

Love
I don't like to see so much pain
So much wasted
And this moment keeps slipping away

I get so tired
Working so hard for our survival
I look to the time with you
To keep me awake and alive

And all my instincts
They return
And the grand façade
So soon will burn

Without a noise
Without my pride
I reach out from the inside

In your eyes, in your eyes
In your eyes, in your eyes

In your eyes
The light the heat
In your eyes
I am complete
In your eyes
I see the doorway
To a thousand churches
In your eyes
The resolution
In your eyes
Of all the fruitless searches

Oh, I see the light and the heat
In your eyes
Oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light
The heat I see in your eyes

In your eyes, in your eyes
In your eyes, in your eyes
In your eyes, in your eyes

Lucinda Williams - World Without Tears (live)

World Without Tears is Lucinda Williams' seventh album. It was released in 2003. It debuted at number 18 on the Billboard 200, selling about 54,000 copies in its first week.
According to Billboard the album has sold 415,000 copies in the United States up to February 2008.
Lucinda Williams (born January 26, 1953) is an American rock, folk, blues, and country music singer and songwriter.
She recorded her first albums in 1978 and 1980 in a traditional country and blues style and received very little attention from radio, the media, or the public. In 1988, she released her self-titled album, Lucinda Williams. This release featured "Passionate Kisses," a song later recorded by Mary Chapin Carpenter which garnered Lucinda her first Grammy Award for Best Country Song in 1994.
Known for working slowly, Lucinda recorded and released only one other album in the next several years (Sweet Old World in 1992) before her greatest success came in 1998 with Car Wheels on a Gravel Road. This album presented a broader scope of songs that fused rock, blues, country, and Americana into a more distinctive style that still managed to remain consistent and commercial in sound. It went gold and earned Lucinda another Grammy while being universally acclaimed by critics. Since Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, she has released a string of albums that have also been critically acclaimed, though none have sold in the numbers of her 1998 breakthrough.
She was also named "America's best songwriter" by TIME magazine in 2002.
The lyrics:
If we lived in a world withought tears
How would bruises find
The face to lie upon
How would scars find skin
To etch themselves into
How would broken find the bones

If we lived in a world without tears
How would heartbeats
Know when to stop
How owuld blood know
Which body to flow outside of
How would bullets find the guns

If we lived in a wold without tears
How would misery know
Which back door to walk through
How would trouble know
Which mind to live inside of
How would sorrow find a home

If we lived in a world without tears
How would bruises find
The face to lie upon
How would scars find skin
To etch themselves into
How would broken find the bones

If we lived in a world without tears
How would bruises find
The face to lie upon
How would scars find skin
To etch themselves into
How would broken find the bones

How would broken find the bones
How would broken find the bones

The Pretenders - Don't Get Me Wrong

Don't Get Me Wrong is a song released by the pop-rock group The Pretenders. It was the first single taken from the group's 1986 album, Get Close. It can also be found on the band's The Singles album, released in 1987.
In the US, "Don't Get Me Wrong" became the group's second Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at #10.
Their first Top 10 pop hit, "Back on the Chain Gang", had reached #5 in 1983. "Don't Get Me Wrong" also spent three weeks atop the Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart in November 1986. In the UK, the song also peaked at #10 in the UK Singles Chart.
The song features a jangly guitar sound and an emphasis on melody. Hynde's lyrics contain literary and scientific references in addition to the more relationship-based subject matter typical for pop music. The song was covered by British pop singer Lily Allen for BBC Radio 1's 40th anniversary celebrations in 2007 and was released on the subsequent compilation album.
The music video for the song is a tribute to the British 1960s TV spy series The Avengers, with Chrissie Hynde playing Emma Peel searching for John Steed (Patrick Macnee appears in the original series' footage, with Hynde superimposed).
Appearances in other media
The song was played over the opening credits for the 1986 film Gung Ho.
The song was used in the 1992 film Peter's Friends.
It was also included in the 1997 film Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion.
The song was used in the 1998 Susan Skoog film "Whatever."
The song was used in the 2001 film version of Bridget Jones's Diary.
A version of the song(minus vocals) was used for wrestler Chris Jericho for his match against referee Nick Patrick at the 1996 edition of WCW World War 3.
The song appears on the soundtrack of the movie Going the Distance (2010 film) with Drew Barrymore and Justin Long.
The lyrics:
Don't Get Me Wrong - The Pretenders
Don't get me wrong
If I'm looking kind of dazzled
I see neon lights
Whenever you walk by
Don't get me wrong
If you say hello and I take a ride
Upon a sea where the mystic moon
Is playing havoc with the tide
Don't get me wrong
Don't get me wrong
If I'm acting so distracted
I'm thinking about the fireworks
That go off when you smile
Don't get me wrong
If I split like light refracted
I'm only off to wander
Across a moonlit mile
Once in a while
Two people meet
Seemingly for no reason
They just pass on the street
Suddenly thunder showers everywhere
Who can explain the thunder and rain
But there's something in the air
Don't get me wrong
If I come and go like fashion
I might be great tomorrow
But hopeless yesterday
Don't get me wrong
If I fall in the mode of passion
It might be unbelievable
But let's not say so long
It might just be fantastic
Don't get me wrong

Desireless - Voyage Voyage

Voyage, voyage is a song co-written by Dominique Albert Dubois and Jean-Michel Rivat and recorded by the French singer Desireless.
It was the first single from her debut album François released at the end of 1986. Despite being sung entirely in French, the song circumvented the language barrier on the music charts and became a huge worldwide hit between 1986 and 1988, reaching the top position in more than ten countries around the world.
Since "Voyage, voyage" is sung exclusively in French, its chart success came as a surprise as it managed the rare feat of becoming a hit in several nations usually closed to francophone songs and artists such as the UK and Ireland. In Germany, the song topped the chart and has the longest chart trajectory of 1987 in the Top 20.
Curiously, the song failed to reach #1 in France, but stayed at #2 for four weeks, behind Elsa Lunghini with her first hit "T'en vas pas", and remained on the chart for 21 weeks, from 13 December 1986 to 9 May 1987. It also reached number one in Germany, Argentina, Norway and Spain where it became the biggest selling single of 1987 in that country with more than 200,000 copies sold.
The song initially hit #53 in the UK in November 1987. After being remixed by Pete Hammond and Pete Waterman of PWL, the song was re-released in the UK in the spring of 1988 and climbed to #5 in June of that year. In Ireland, the song reached #4 twice, first on its original run in November 1987 followed by the PWL remix version in June 1988.
Other covers
In 1989, the song was recorded with Russian comic lyrics to the original backing track and unofficially released by the Soviet DJ Sergei Minaev.
It was also covered by the Mexican band Magneto in 1991 with a Spanish version entitled "Vuela Vuela". This version peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart.
In 1995, Russian comic death-metal band Boney’NEM recorded their version of the song.
Japanese Jpop Duo Wink also covered it on 1993 by the name Eien no Lady Doll ~Voyage Voyage~.
The song was also covered by the band Gregorian, featuring Sarah Brightman.
The nightflyer also covered the song in 2002.
Bananarama also covered the song and it has been performed live during 2008. It appears as a B-side on their single "Love Comes" which is included on their 2009 album, Viva.
The Spanish band Los Gandules released a version of the song, Bayas Bayas (Berries Berries), in their album Sillonbol Stars. It features different lyrics in which a small bear switches to eating berries after a bad experience with the bees in a hive.
Austrian artist Soap&Skin covered the song in her 2012 album Narrow.
Armenian singer Sonya covered this song in 2011 with a more sensual re-interpretation.
The lyrics:

Voyage (voyage)
Et jamais ne revient.
