Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue - Death Is Not The End (live)

Death Is Not the End is a song featuring several vocalists, such as Anita Lane, Kylie Minogue, PJ Harvey, and Shane McGowan, including Nick Cave himself and his bandmembers drummer Thomas Wydler and guitarist Blixa Bargeld. They each sing a verse in this cover of a Bob Dylan song, the only song in which an actual death does not occur.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Fifteen Feet Of Pure White Snow

In a dreary, isolated town stands a building. Throughout the bland hallways are rooms that have been deserted for years. Old computer equipment, basically just a bunch of shit around.
That doesn’t stop Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds from cleaning it up, bringing in some gear and throwing a moderately attended party.
Enjoy the setting of place in the snapshots of the first seven seconds, then get ready for a Bad Seeder line dance.

What a great video to check out The Bad Seeds groovy dance moves. It’s also fun watching Blixa Bargeld during the line dance part. I’m not sure if he is uncoordinated or drunk or both.
Noah Tyler is in the video. A brilliant actor that many have said, Dude, he’s like a young Nick Cave.
Props to the stylist of the video as the clothes are amazing. Or, maybe the people who joined the party really are that fashionable.

I love the upbeat vibe of this song and how he delivers his lyrics…..but when you really dive into them, they are murky and dark.
First Nick asks where everyone is at? Then he’s depressed and calls out to the Lord. That might not work so he sees his doctor. No answer from the doctor, let’s try the nurse:
“Where’s my nurse I need some healing,
I’ve been paralyzed by a lack of feeling,
I can’t even find anything worth stealing,
Under fifteen feet of pure white snow.”
Then he gives God another shot again, Oh my Lord, Oh my Lord.
Things feel pretty lonely.
Are we on our own in this existence? Is there an answer? Lord? Nick?
“Is there anyone here who doesn’t know?
We’re under fifteen feet of pure white snow.”
The lesson we have learned today is that we can reach out to people and it might help a bit. We can also take some comfort knowing that everyone else is on their own on this rotating ball.
In the end, we need to take responsibility for ourselves. As Nick answers all of the pressing questions in the last verse: “Save yourself! Save Yourself! Help yourself! Yeah, yeah yeah.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (feat. PJ Harvey) - Henry Lee

The song, which can be traced back as far as the 18th century, narrates the tale of the eponymous protagonist, Young Hunting, who tells a woman, who may have borne him a child, that he is in love with another, more beautiful woman.
Despite this, she persuades him to drink until he is drunk, then to come to her bedroom, or at least kiss her farewell. The woman then stabs him to death. She throws his body in the river — sometimes with the help of one of the other women of the town, whom she bribes with a diamond ring — and is taunted by a bird. She tries to lure the bird down from the tree but it tells her that she will kill it if it comes within reach. When the search for Young Hunting starts, she either denies seeing him or claims that he left earlier, but when Hunting's remains are found, in order to revoke her guilt, she reveals that she murdered him and is later burned at the stake.
Nick Cave, who covered the song, referred to the song as "a story about the fury of a scorned woman."
Henry Lee, a variant of Young Hunting, is a song by the Australian post-punk band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. It is the third track and second single from the band's ninth studio album, Murder Ballads (1996), and was released on 26 February 1996 on Mute Records.
The song, which features a duet between frontman Nick Cave and the English alternative rock musician PJ Harvey, is alternately–arranged in comparison to other more traditional versions of "Henry Lee." Lyrically, the song borrows heavily from Dick Justice's version of the song.
Recording
The majority of the studio version of "Henry Lee" was recorded by The Bad Seeds at Sing Sing Studios and Metropolis Studios in Melbourne with Cave's vocal track. Harvey's vocal track was recorded at Wessex and Worldwide Studios in London.
Music video
Directed by Rocky Schenck, the promotional music video for "Henry Lee" features one scene throughout; Nick Cave, in the role of Henry Lee, and PJ Harvey, in the role of his lover, singing the duet.
There is a constant green backdrop in the background of the video. This format contrasted the former format used by Schenck for "Where the Wild Roses Grow" which focused on cinematography and featured several scenes. Body language is a stand-out feature of the video and after many varying forms of it, the pair slow dance at the end of the video.

Nick Cave & Kylie Minogue - Where the Wild Roses Grow

Where the Wild Roses Grow is a duet by Australian rock band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and pop singer Kylie Minogue. It is the fifth song and lead single from the band's ninth studio album, Murder Ballads (1996), released on Mute Records.
It was written by the band's frontman Nick Cave and produced by Tony Cohen and Victor Van Vugt.
The song received a positive reception from music critics and became the band's most successful single worldwide reaching No. 3 in Norway, the top five in Australia, and the top twenty in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany and New Zealand. It also received a limited promotional release in the United States. The song was certified Gold in Germany in 1996 for 250,000 copies sold, despite never reaching the top ten in that country. It charted again at the bottom of the German Top 100 in 2008 because of digital downloads after it was used in a soap opera. "Where the Wild Roses Grow" was also certified Gold in Australia for selling 50,000 copies.
Cave was inspired to write "Where the Wild Roses Grow" after listening to the traditional song, "Down in the Willow Garden", a tale of a man courting a woman and killing her while they are out together. Cave arranged this tale as second of two B-sides, "The Ballad of Robert Moore & Betty Coltrane" / "The Willow Garden", released on the CD-Maxi single version.
Although the song does not feature on a Minogue studio album, it can be found on her compilations Hits+, Greatest Hits 1987-1999, Ultimate Kylie and The Abbey Road Sessions. Minogue performed a chorus of the song during her Showgirl and Homecoming tours.
It reached number 8 in Triple J's Hottest 100 1995. In 2012, NME Magazine listed the song in the "100 best songs of the 1990s" at number 35.
Cave described writing the song: “Where The Wild Roses Grow was written very much with Kylie in mind. I'd wanted to write a song for Kylie for many years. I had a quiet obsession with her for about six years. I wrote several songs for her, none of which I felt was appropriate to give her. It was only when I wrote this song, which is a dialogue between a killer and his victim, that I thought finally I'd written the right song for Kylie to sing. I sent the song to her and she replied the next day.” - Nick Cave, quoted in Molly Meldrum presents 50 years of rock in Australia (2007) - "one of pop music's most violent and distressing lyrics" and "when Kylie Minogue sings these words, there is an innocence to her that makes the horror of this chilling lyric all the more compelling".
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and Kylie Minogue first performed the song publicly on 4 August 1995 in Cork, Republic of Ireland.
