Garou - Je suis le même

Garou (né Pierre Garand le 26 juin 1972 à Sherbrooke) est un chanteur canadien. Il a étudié au Séminaire de Sherbrooke.
Il devient célèbre en France en interprétant le personnage de Quasimodo dans la comédie musicale Notre-Dame de Paris de Richard Cocciante et Luc Plamondon.
Puis, en 2000, il entame une carrière solo avec l'album Seul. Garou a chanté en mars 2002 au palais omnisports de Paris-Bercy devant près de 11 000 spectateurs.
En novembre 2003, il sort son deuxième album intitulé Reviens, puis en juin 2006 son troisième opus tout simplement baptisé Garou.
Le chanteur a déjà fait plusieurs tournées en passant par le Canada, la Pologne, la Russie, le Liban, la France, la Belgique et la Suisse.
Le 6 mai 2008, il lance au Canada son quatrième album en carrière et premier album en anglais intitulé Piece of My Soul.
Le 4 décembre 2009 sort un album de reprises: Gentleman cambrioleur. Plusieurs DVD de ses tournées sont d'ailleurs disponibles.
Il a sorti le 29 novembre 2010 son 6e album studio intitulé Version intégrale, dont le premier extrait envoyé aux médias est J'avais besoin d'être là (par ailleurs en écoute libre sur son site).
Depuis 2012, il est coach dans l'émission The Voice, la plus belle voix au côté de Jenifer, Florent Pagny et Louis Bertignac, qui est remplacé par Mika en 2014.
Vie privée
Le 17 mai 2001 Garou a un accident dans sa Ferrari, après avoir tapé la glissière de sécurité, le moteur de son véhicule prend feu, il a tout juste le temps de sortir, il déclarera s'être endormi3.
Il a une fille, prénommée Émelie4, née le 7 juillet 2001 du mannequin suédois Ulrika5.
De janvier 2007 à juin 20106, il a été le compagnon de la chanteuse Lorie, qu'il avait rencontrée lors de la tournée des Enfoirés (dont il est un fidèle)7.
À la mi-avril 2013, il présente sa nouvelle compagne, une top-modèle canadienne dénommée Stéphanie Fournier8.

"Fragile" is a song composed by English musician Sting from his 1987 album ...Nothing Like the Sun. Released as a single the following year, it placed to number 70 on the UK Singles Chart.
Sung additionally in both Spanish and Portuguese under the titles Fragilidad and Fragil, it appeared twice more on his 1988 EP variant of the album, Nada como el sol.
The song is a tribute to Ben Linder, an American civil engineer who was killed by the Contras in 1987 while working on a hydroelectric project in Nicaragua.
It was one of the songs that it appeared in the 1992 Academy Award winning documentary film "The Panama Deception", about the U.S. Invasion of Panama in December 1989.
"Fragile" was the opening song in Sting's ...All This Time concert, recorded on the evening of the September 11 attacks in 2001.
The song also appears in the closing scenes of "Come from the Shadows", episode 59, of 21 Jump Street, the fourth episode of Season Four.
The song also appears in the 1995 Oscar nominated documentary The Living Sea.

The song has been covered by many international artists including Québécois singer Bruno Pelletier, Turkish bağlama artist Ahmet Koç, American jazz singer Cassandra Wilson, American trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, American soul singer Isaac Hayes, Mercedes Sosa and Pedro Aznar from Argentina, Nils Landgren, Shirley Clamp, Dionne Warwick, Julio Iglesias, Anita Lipincka, Jesse Cook, Stringmansassy and Holly Cole.
It was performed during the opening ceremony of the 2002 Winter Olympics.
It has scored rendition on the instrumental music side as well, trumpeter Bruce Glover covered the song from his 2005 album "Fragile."
In 2006, saxophonist Michael Lington covered the song from his album "A Song for You."
The following year, guitarist Blake Aaron covered the song from his album "Desire."
Brazilian recording artist Marina Elali recorded a Brazilian version of the song for her self-titled debut album, also singing some parts in English.

Luciano Pavarotti & James Brown - It's a man's world (live)


James Brown performed with Luciano Pavarotti on May 28,2002 at a concert titled, "Pavarotti & Friends" benefiting the people of Angola.
This pairing an unexpected duo.
Pavarotti's more formal operatic style teamed with The Godfather of Soul, James Brown.
Two men blessed with incredibly powerful voices balance and complement each other so surprisingly well.
The song's lyrics, which Rolling Stone characterized as "almost biblically chauvinistic", attribute all the works of modern civilization (the car, the train, the electric light) to the efforts of men, but claim that it all would "mean nothing without a woman or a girl."
Brown's co-writer and onetime girlfriend, Betty Jean Newsome, wrote the lyrics based on her own observations of the relations between the sexes.
In later years, Newsome would claim that Brown didn't write any part of the song and argued in court that Brown sometimes forgot to pay her royalties.
The composition of It's a Man's Man's Man's World developed over a period of several years. Tammy Montgomery, better known as Tammi Terrell, recorded "I Cried", a Brown-penned song based on the same chord changes, in 1963. Brown himself recorded a demo version of the song, provisionally entitled "It's a Man's World", in 1964. This version later appeared on the CD compilations The CD of JB and Star Time.
The released version of "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" was recorded quickly, in only two takes, with a studio ensemble that included members of Brown's touring band and a string section arranged and conducted by Sammy Lowe. A female chorus was involved in the recording sessions, but their parts were edited out of the song's final master.
"It's a Man's Man's Man's World" became a staple of Brown's live shows for the rest of his career. Its slow, simmering groove and declamatory vocal line made it suitable for long, open-ended performances incorporating spoken ruminations on love and loss and sometimes interpolations from other songs.
It appears on almost all of Brown's live albums starting with 1967's Live at the Garden. Brown also recorded a big band jazz arrangement of the song with the Louie Bellson Orchestra for his 1970 album Soul on Top.
In 2004, "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" was ranked number 123 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest songs of all time.
The song has been recorded by many artists in various idioms over the years.

Scott MacKenzie - San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)

San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair) is an American pop music song, written by John Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas, and sung by Scott McKenzie.
The song was produced and released in May 1967 by Phillips and Lou Adler, who used it to promote their Monterey International Pop Music Festival held in June of that year.
John Phillips played guitar on the recording and session musician Gary L Coleman played orchestra bells and chimes. The bass line of the song was supplied by session musician Joe Osborn. Hal Blaine played drums.
McKenzie's version of the song has been called "the unofficial anthem of the counterculture movement of the 1960s.
The lyrics of the song tell the listeners, "If you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair".
Due to the difference between the lyrics and the actual title, the title is often quoted as "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair)".
"San Francisco," released on May 13, 1967, was an instant hit. By the week ending July 1, 1967, it reached the number four spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in the USA, where it remained for four consecutive weeks.
Meanwhile, the song rose to number one in the UK and most of Europe. The single is purported to have sold over 7 million copies worldwide.
Phillips reported writing the song in about 20 minutes.
The song is credited with bringing thousands of young people to San Francisco, California, during the late 1960s.
In Central Europe, young people adopted "San Francisco" as an anthem for freedom, and it was widely played during Czechoslovakia's 1968 Prague Spring uprising.
The song has been featured in several films, including Frantic, The Rock, and Forrest Gump. Episode 2 in season 1 of "Getting On (U.S. TV series)" featured the song, as it was sung by one of the patients and was used over the episode's closing credits.
It was also played occasionally by Led Zeppelin as part of the improvised section in the middle of "Dazed and Confused".
U2's Bono also led the audience in singing this song during their PopMart performances in the San Francisco Bay Area on June 18 and 19, 1997.

Joan Baez - Gracias a la vida (Live, 2000)

This is one of Joan Baez's classics, although it's a cover of a song written by a Chilean folk singer and visual artist: Violeta Parra, who committed suicide in 1967.
Her song "Gracias a la vida", composed one year before her death, is one of the most covered latin american songs.
Legendary folk singer Joan Baez brought the song to the American audiences in 1974 when she included a cover of the song on her Spanish language album of the same name.
It remains a concert staple of Baez' to this day.
Finnish singer Arja Saijonmaa recorded this song in both Finnish (Miten voin kyllin kiittää) and Swedish (Jag vill tacka livet). Her Swedish interpretation is one of the most well-known of her Swedish-language oeuvres.
Canadian singer/songwriter Nancy White recorded her English translation (with permission of Warner Chappell Music Argentina (SADAIC))on her 1998 Borealis cd "Gaelic Envy".
One of the artists most associated with "Gracias a la vida" is the Argentine singer Mercedes Sosa. "Gracias a la vida" became something of a personal anthem for Sosa and was a constant in all of her performances up until her death.

Bob Dylan - Things Have Changed

Things Have Changed is a song from the film Wonder Boys, written and performed by Bob Dylan.
The song was released as a single on May 1, 2000.
"Things Have Changed" won the Academy Award, and the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song.
The director of Wonder Boys, Curtis Hanson, also created a music video for "Things Have Changed", filming new footage of Dylan on the film's various locations and editing it with footage used in Wonder Boys as if Dylan were actually in the film.
"Things Have Changed" has been used in the Showtime series Brotherhood and twice in the CBS series NCIS, and is featured on the NCIS soundtrack.
The track peaked at #58 in the UK Singles Chart.

Donovan - Catch The Wind (Live, 2011)

Catch the Wind is a song written and recorded by British singer-songwriter Donovan.
It was released as a single in the United Kingdom on March 12, 1965 through Pye Records (Pye 7N 15801) and a few months later in the United States through Hickory Records (Hickory 45-1309). 
"Catch the Wind" was the first release by Donovan.
It reached No.4 in the United Kingdom singles chart and No.23 in the United States Billboard Hot 100.
The single version featured Donovan's vocals with echo and a string section. The song was re-recorded for Donovan's first album What's Bin Did and What's Bin Hid without the vocal echo and strings.
When Epic Records was compiling Donovan's Greatest Hits, they were either unable or unwilling to secure the rights to the original recordings of "Catch the Wind" and "Colours". Donovan re-recorded both songs with a full backing band, and the re-recordings were included on the greatest hits album.
Contemporary usage
In 1985, the TV show Miami Vice used the song at the beginning of the episode "Golden Triangle (Part II)".
In 1989, the TV show, The Wonder Years used the song at the end of the episode "Brightwing".
In 1992, in the movie The Efficiency Expert.
In 2005, the TV show, Cold Case used this song at the end of the episode "A Perfect Day".
In 2006, the TV show, Alias used this song at the end of the episode "No Hard Feelings".
In 2006, the song was featured in the movie Flicka.
In 2007, GE Ecomagination used the song in a television commercial promoting their achievements in wind power.
In 2009, thatgamecompany used it in a promotional advertisement of PlayStation Network title Flower.
In 2009 MassMutual used the song in a personal financial services commercials.
In 2009, the movie, The Invention of Lying used almost the whole track following the scene in which the protagonist's mother dies.
In 2009, the movie, Charlie and Boots, used the song as the final scene, in which the two protagonists fish together.
In 2011, the TV show, Parenthood used this song at the end of the November 8th episode, "In-Between".

Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman - Come What May

Come What May is a phrase that originates from Shakespeare's Macbeth and means: let whatever events crop up come to pass.
It is the romantic love theme from Baz Luhrmann's 2001 film Moulin Rouge!
It is sung by Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman in their respective roles as Christian and Satine.
The heartfelt and pure romantic love song on the soundtrack album and the film differ slightly.
The lyrics "Every day I love you more and more" and "Listen to my heart, can you hear it sing / Telling me to give you everything" can be heard on the soundtrack version.
In the movie, they are replaced by a musical interlude the first time, and, the second time, Satine sings instead of the latter part: "come back to me and forgive everything."
The single version can be found on the original soundtrack, while the original film version can be found on the follow-up soundtrack.
When the forbidden strong and close romantic relationship between Christian and Satine has been discovered, Christian pens this romance song and includes it in the musical he is currently writing. Each time either of them sings this song, they can secretly declare their equally deep and true romantic love for each other.
This plays an important role later in the film, as lies and jealousy make it difficult for the truth to stand out.
Awards
"Come What May" was nominated for a 2002 Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song - Motion Picture, where it lost to Sting's "Until" from Kate and Leopold.
However, it was ineligible for a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Song because it was originally written with another film in mind: Luhrmann's previous project William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet.
The song was ranked on the AFI's 100 Years... 100 Songs at number 85.

R.E.M. - Leaving New York
Leaving New York is a song by the American alternative rock band R.E.M.. It was the first single from the band's 2004 album Around the Sun.
Although it was not as heavily promoted as earlier singles, it reached as high as #5 on the UK Singles Chart.
In early live performances of the song (September 2004), the band would play Michael Stipe's "It's pulling me apart. Change." album backing vocal during the chorus and bridge of live performances. As early as February 2005, however, as evidenced on the R.E.M. Live disc, the band worked up an alternative whereby the backing vocals would be shared amongst Mike Mills, Scott McCaughey and Ken Stringfellow in order to make the song flow more smoothly.
As Stipe stated in interviews, the tune is a love song to the city. Stipe regards New York as his second hometown. Stipe stated that once, flying out of the city and seeing it from above, he was overwhelmed by its beauty and wrote the song right there on the plane.
The music video was shot with real friends of the band members, throwing a party, and snapshots of Stipe in different places of the city, giving the video a spontaneous and private atmosphere.
